Resources

All tools are free to use, though we do ask that you bring your own materials, with the exception of 3D printers and vinyl cutter. We have regularly scheduled tool training and workshops on our Hopkins Groups. You can also contact the Makerspace Manager to schedule tool authentication to gain access.

FDM 3D Printing

We have 3 Lulzbot Mini V2, 2 Lulzbot Workhorses, and 1 Lulzbot Pro available to use. We provide up to 500g of filament per JHED per semester for free. Surpassing this limit, guests are expected to provide their own filament.

Training for the FDM 3D printers can be done by registering to a training session on Hopkins Groups, or by walk-in during open lab hours.

SLA 3D Printing

We have Form 3B+, Wash and Cure station, and three different resins available. An equal amount of resin is allotted to each Makerspace user every semester. Due to the material costs, resin usage is limited to original designs only.

Training and usage for the SLA Printer must be scheduled individually here.

Vinyl Cutting

With our Roland GS-24 you can create all sorts of vinyl graphics and signs.

Training for the vinyl cutter can be done by registering to a training session on Hopkins Groups, or by walk-in during open lab hours.

Electrical Station

Our electronics station is packed with lots of tools to get your electrical projects up and running. The station includes a Hotair Rework Station, Mastech Power Supply, Instek 3030D DC Power Supply, SDG2122X Siglent Function Generator, Two X-Tronic 3020 Soldering Stations, and a Techtronix 2014B Ocilliscope.

Training for the electrical station can be done by registering to a training session on Hopkins Groups, or by walk-in during open lab hours.

Laser Cutters

Our available laser cutters include the Universal Laser Systems VLS 2.30 (with rotary attachment), Universal Laser Systems VLS 4.60, and Universal Laser Systems VLS 6.60. 

Training for the laser cutters can be done by registering to a training session on Hopkins Groups, or by walk-in during open lab hours.

“Becoming an Authorized Laser Operator” & “Proper Laser Cutter Operations” on MyLearning.com under MyJH are required before you can begin in-person training at the Makerspace.

CNC Router

Our Shopbot PRS Alpha 48-48-8 4hp spindle is available for cutting larger pieces of wood and other materials.

Training and usage of the CNC Router must be scheduled individually here.

Wood Shop

Our wood shop is packed with stationary machinery and hand tools to help make your large-scale prototype a reality.

The wood shop tool training is divided into five sections: Woodshop Training Track. All training for the wood shop must be scheduled here.

Spray Booth

Safely finish or paint your project in our large format spray booth.

This tool is available for walk-in training during open lab hours.
